PRESIDENTS NEWSLETTER 8TH APRIL 2015
On behalf of The William Light Institute I would like to also congratulate Dante and Cora on this prestigious award
We are very fortunate at The William Light Institute to have a community of teachers, learners, alumni and administrators who have achieved great things in their chosen fields. I am usually reluctant to ‘name names’ in this regard but one recent instance needs to be publicised.
Our Board of Directors includes Dr Reynaldo Dante Juanta OAM. Apart from Dr Juanta’s long career as an educator in Australia he has also put much dedicated voluntary effort into the Filipino community both in Australia and back in the Philippines. Dante, as he likes to be called, has been the Honorary Consul General of the Philippines in Adelaide for longer than even he can remember helping many Filipinos to flourish in this country. But Dante has also made an ongoing contribution back in the Philippine. For over 40 years he has been an Adjunct Visiting Professor at the Philippines Normal University- the Country's National Centre for Teacher Education. Dante has travelled each year to the Philippines to guide and assist with the post-graduate programs at the University.
In January this year Dante was awarded the post of ‘Eminent Alumni’ with a number of other distinguished colleagues. The awards, known as ‘Pagkilala: Recognition Program for Eminent Alumni’ were made by the University’s President Dr Ester Ogena and Vice President Academic Dr Ma. AC Montealegre. Dante was accompanied to the awards by his wife and retired academic Cora Juanta.
On behalf of The William Light Institute I would like to also congratulate Dante and Cora on this prestigious award and the great contribution they have made to education in both the Philippines and Australia.
