PRESIDENTS NEWSLETTER 30 NOVEMBER 2017

PROFESSIONAL YEAR PROGRAMME NOVEMBER 2017

This month we have a record number of professional year students undertaking internships. At William Light we are very proud of our record in securing first class internships for our students. One important statistic from my perspective is the high number of companies that are happy to engage in repeat internships sourced from William Light.

The Australian political system may be in turmoil at the moment but the economy continues to tick along nicely. The market for ICT graduates remains firm. There are of course variations in demand by city. However we are still seeing interest in entry level jobs for:

- Cloud implementations

- Help desk

- Website upgrades/apps development/mobile offerings

- Cyber security

- Programming-especially where the graduate Has skills in the latest technologies like  .net and Java

As I have said many times in the past employers are looking for recent graduates who:

Have continued to learn and develop their skills
Have active lives outside work (special interests, volunteering, hobbies)
Are reliable, come to work on time and are prepared to ‘go the extra mile’ to get the job done
Are good at working in teams
Have excellent communication skills

If you have any questions or wish to discuss your career strategy drop us a line at info@wli.sa.edu.au and we will respond as soon as we can.
