Andris joins The William Light Institute with extensive experience in government, non-government and the private sectors at a policy, project and management level and serving on key state and national committees in the health and welfare sectors. Until 2015 he had served for eight years as Executive Officer of the SA Network of Drug and Alcohol Services (SANDAS), the peak body representing the NGO drug and alcohol service providers at the state and national levels.
In 2015 Andris moved into the consultancy sector contracting with a range of organisations in the areas of capacity and capability improvement, systems review and development, strategic planning and organisation renewal. Andris has also presented at state and national conferences and has an active interest in human potential development and its barriers especially in the areas of building confidence and skill and knowledge sets. In the last few years Andris has provided sessional lecturing in the VET sector and has facilitated a range of workshops and committee functions. Andris recently commenced a two year term on the SA Mental Health Commissioner’s Community Advisory Committee which is developing the Mental Health Plan for SA and Action Plan for the Commission. He has a keen interest in the arts and how they can contribute to improving people’s quality of life.
